I am a Navy veteran and when I saw this item I just had to have it for my collection. It is very heavy and solid. It can be used with all types of rope knots, not just nautical. My one issue would be the absence of the leather lanyard. The package was not sealed and the lanyard had been taken out. Oh, and the second issue would be I can't order the sheath separately and if I had known this I would have purchased both together. And these marlin spike sheaths are hard to find. I bought some leather string and made my own lanyard with beads. It's decorative that way. I also bought a cheap black pouch.
