Beautiful, extremely sharp knives, classy. Looking knives and wooden block.Better than $300 set I bought 4 yrs ago. Ergonomics and feel outstanding which will resuce hand fatigue. If you cook a lot and chop meat, veggies, etc, this is THE BEST SET you will find for this price. May seem pricey but the attention to detail and German engineering unsurpassed. Lastly, delivery was on time as usual. After 6 months of use, I noticed that the sharp edges on all the knives are chipping. I have tried sharpening the knives to get a nice solid cutting edge again. Nothing has worked, the cutting edges are chipping away and probably ending up in our food. DO NOT BUY. METAL WILL END UP IN YOUR FOOD.I’ve been using it for year then I realized that this knife metal is not good and it didn’t cut well after sharpened it few times. Additionally I was a sushi chef which means I know how to sharpen the knivesNice using cutting meats and vegetablesThis "KONOLL Kitchen Knife Block Set" (9pcs) comes with 6 knives (a chef knife, a santoku knife, a bread knife, a carving knife, a utility knife and a paring knife), a knife shears, a knife block and a sharpener. The knives are "full tang" and seemingly with 3 rivets, and with ergonomic wood handles. The handles are well polished and smooth pretty good in your hands. The overall balance of the knives are fine too. These knives have a "black hammered" finish on the blade, but I don't believe that they are actually hammered knives, and the "hammered" markings are just for looks, and not authentic. The included kitchen shear is a handy piece, I use it to on chicken and fish all the time. The knife block is solid and substantial, provides a nice place to keep the knives and can also be a good display piece on your counter. Lastly, the include sharpener is a easy to use "pull thru" type of sharpener, it is sufficient for these type of knives.Yet, when getting a "set", even though the accessories are "nice to have, the most important thing is still the knives. And these knives are relatively "low end", maybe ok for beginner or if you are on a budget. They are made in China with 5CR15MOV steel. 5CR15MOV is a low end stainless steel, high in Chromium (15%) for corrosion and wear resistance, easy to sharpen (as it is not very hard), but do not retain the edge too well (also due to the fact that it is not very hard). These KONOLL knives come pretty sharp, but it will get dull over time (pretty quick too), so you would need to up keep them by sharpening them frequently (using the included sharpener is not too difficult); and you would also benefit from getting them professionally sharpener once a year or so.Overall, this make a good gift set, a budget set; the price is not high yet still not cheap, you figure each knife cost about $20-$25. They looks good, and ok functional, for causal usage. They are definitely not "premium" or "chef grade" knives; any real chef or cooking enthusiast will pass these on. Sometimes one may be better off with only 1 or 2 knives (a chef knife and a pairing knife) but of higher quality than to have a whole set of (6) low quality knives.Thank you for reading this review, I hoped that this review & the pictures are helpful to you in support of your purchase decision. This set is overall nice, but didn't come with some setbacks. The knives are sharp so be careful when handlingThe overall aesthetics of this knife kit is fantastic it has a darker wooden oak vibe that work nicely with darker kitchens and just blends in with the space. My knife block had a few small indents all around which was a bit disappointing they were small and not noticeable unless you looked close up. The other complaint about the knife block is that the largest knife slot is not wide enough to fit without touching the wood. Sometimes it get stuck if you don't angle it correctly, which will eventually effect the sharpness of the set.The set has most of the knives that you would need to cook, but the one setback is that it's missing multiple smaller knifes and just has one of each, which means you need to cut and wash more frequent if you don't want to cross contaminate your knives that would be useful for prepping smaller veggies or cutting smaller food items. The set does a decent job, but some of the quality control is slightly lacking. My wife and I really like this set of knives. It includes different length amd functional knives to meet our needs. It does not need installation and have 9 pieces in total. The holes are easy to slide in the knives and one scissor. The knives holder is tilted which is a friendly design to put knives and keep everything organized in kitchen. However, some of the knives are not sharp enough especially the small ones. I think if it comes with a big size knife as well then it would be a perfect set for kitchen! This set from a distant looks professional. The handles are wood and have hammered German steel blades. The steel knives are high quality. The handles fit nicely in my hand. My husband insist we have knives we can sharpen. You can do these yourself and they even give you a sharpener. My problem with this set is quality control. The wooden handles do not match each other or the block itself. When you look closely you wouldn't even think they were the same set. One of my knives don't even fit and the block and another I have to shove in, that's safe. The scissors are plastic and cheap feeling. For this price range I definitely expect better. Yes, the knives themselves are sharp and cut everything fantastic but the overall look is lacking.
