Definitely a cheaper set, you can tell just from the feel of the blades but those shears seem pretty durable for sure. Really nice holder too, was going to put the knives in the drawer for my bar but the holder is so cool and swivels that I think I’ll leave it sit on the counter top! Pretty happy with the set just using at the bar so hopefully they hold up well and don’t go dull or rust out on me too quick.Love it and all my frends fall in love with it.I was opening a box with the small one and broke it in half. The look good for a decorationI'm a college student and I got this knife set for my roommates'' and my apartment. I have to say, I was a little surprised when I got the knives that they were not as great of quality as I had hoped. The finish on all the knives' blades are honestly kind of rough and the knives just don't have a very quality feel to them. After getting the knives, I was surprised at how similar the bone and meat cleavers were to each other. I honestly wish they would have traded out one of the two for another chefs knife. I guess I just expected that both cleavers would be drastically different from each other and clearly serve different purposed. Also, some of the knives came dirty. I'm not sure if they had been opened before or something? My biggest issue with this knife set is the knife block. The thing is flimsy and cheap. When I was setting it up, I was worried I was going to break the whole thing. The block is made out of cheap plastic and the only thing supporting the sheaths that hold the knives is one pin. I really wish the block was a better quality.Overall though, this is a decent knife set if you are on a budget and for me they should work okay but I will definitely look to upgrade in the future.Had to say I expected better from the images and the price. The knife block was the most disappointing. The entire thing is made of plastic, so it's very light and fragile and feels cheap when you touch it... Disappointing because it's such a draw for this set. The knife block looks amazing in the pictures, and I just assumed it would be metal and sturdy and structured based on the price and seeming quality of this set altogether. It looks good from a distance but up close or when you touch it it's disappointing.Besides the knife block, the knives themselves weren't nearly as sharp as I was expecting. I tried first cutting a gala apple with the paring knife and actually had to work at it a bit. Considering this is a brand-spanking-new set of knifes at a price that suggests a particular caliber, I expected them to slice through something such as apple with ease. I cut up some vegetables tonight including onion, bell pepper, and garlic, and didn't have any trouble but nor did I slice with ease. They're slightly sharper than my old, dull knives, but not nearly as sharp as they should be. They DO come with a sharpening steel which I have not used yet so fingers crossed that does its job, but receiving them straight from the box I expect them to be sharp from the get-go.Despite these let-downs, the knives are very pretty and comfortable in my grip. They wash off easily, and do the job more or less. Considering how dull my old knives were getting, these are definitely handy, but I really wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I would hope for a finer quality at the price being charged.Well I love how the set looks. I also read positive reviews about the set. However, I’m a bit disappointed by the quality of the set. When I first received the set in the box, I thought there were missing pieces because it felt really light. After opening it, I realized everything was in the box. The holder block is definitely an art itself. It looks stylish and modern. However, it felt flimsy when I put a heavy knife in it. The knives came with the set were all on the light side, so they are fine in the holder block but they are not as practical. I used the butcher knife to cut a Japanese radish, it was really difficult because it felt dull. All the knives look really beautiful, but they don’t do a very good job cutting veggies. Overall, they are good for look/decoration but not for use as cutting knives. I may try to sharpen them more and see if they get better. So far, I can’t say I would purchase them again. This is a good looking set of knives and the acrylic holder is an eye catcher, unfortunately they look a lot better than they are. They are a very lightweight set of knives and have not held up. They will not hold and edge and will not sharpen very well. I made the mistake of putting one in the dishwasher and then had to buff the rust off it. I have learned my lesson, when the price seems too good to be true, it is.
