really well made design. a bit heavy. I had planned to hang it on tile with 2 sided tape but unit was too heavy. mounted to wooden cabinet and now works well and makes my knives handier and not dulled as quickly as when using a wooden block holder.I can put all my knives up now. Looks great!!Ok the paper diagram used for install was off. So we had to remove a screw measure and reinstall. However once it was installed it works perfectly. Knives even heavy ones stick great. I’m much more confident that my blades are not being damaged by a metal magnetic knife board.I am updating my review. I ordered a 2nd knife holder. This time in 18”. It’s beat to hell. Definitely been dropped many times as multiple corners are bent in. Magnetisms is too weak to hold up even a pairing knife. And few magnets have been used making all the knives attempt to slide to 3 spots on the board. Absolutely garbage. I am returning it.I just wanted something magnetic, perhaps 11 inches long with a real wood look that I could hang near the stove for convenience. NOWHERE in the description did it say it's actual dimensions, just said holds 16 knives (which leaves a wide interpretation, paring or cleaver). It's actually 24X3" and much too large to hang anywhere near our oven/stove/sink/counter. And it's much heavier than expected. This thing is a brute. I'll probably return it.I have just ordered a third wall bar. The first one had a double stamping (the figure on the right had two heads, two upper bodies). The second one (rec'd today) is missing two letters from the stamping, has a large knot and chip, and the stamp is on the wrong side of the wood - the better side was used for the hardware. Someone is not checking these prior to shipping. I have ordered a third today and will update the review. This is the update for the 3rd magnetic bar. The magnetic bar ordered for the 3rd time is very good quality, the stamping on this one is excellent and the wood is finished really well.We absolutely love this knife strip. My son is a professional chef and said it is sturdier then the strips they use in his restaurant. This is most definitely a worthwhile purchase!I put two massive holes in my walls and found out the hard way. The fact that a company can include a blatantly incorrect installation “aid” is unconscionable. Other than that, the block works great but I can’t bring myself to give a good rating to a manufacturer that allows a problem with such a simple fix to persist.A beautiful thing to hang on the wall, the magnets aren't terribly powerful through the acacia. I'm forced to store my knives longer than 6" with handles up to avoid them dropping off the bar. This in itself isn't a terrible thing. However, it could easily have cost me a few hundred dollars worth of cutlery if I hadn't paid attention. Very pretty, though!
