I am reviewing the black one, which I received today. I already had the brown one, and enjoyed taking that one on hikes. But I got bored with the color. I will continue to take it to the outdoors, but I wanted something different for the office. I generally carry my knife without the clip in the front pocket. One thing I noticed is how nicely it rests in the bottom of my pocket. There is quite a price difference between the two, so it was hard to justify getting the black one too, but I'm happy with my decision. The handle material is beautiful, it is all black, but you will see different reflective patterns depending on how you hold it to the light. The red fittings add a nice pop of color. I thought I would remove the clip, but I like the pop of color, so I'm keeping it, even though I'll probably not use it. The knife came with a fabric pouch with draw-string closure and the Buck logo. I may keep it in the pouch so the clip doesn't scratch or get scratched in my pocket. The knife seems a little too thick to carry clipped in the back pocket. For one-hand openers, flippers are my least favorite, thumb holes are my favorite, so on that score I make a compromise. However, I do like the look of the skeletonize flipper. I would say the handle should be longer, so that my pinky does not feel insecure at the very end of the handle, but considering how snugly it fits in the pocket, I would probably keep the shorter handle. I just tried paring and slicing an apple in my hand, and the sharp, hollow ground blade did not disappoint. I commend Buck and their knife makers for creating this winning beauty.I purchased this a few weeks ago and have had some pocket carry time and a weekend of camp use so far. I love the lack of weight, the factory edge (on par with my Benchmade bugouts), the marbelized carbon (has very fine machining lines for grip), and the overall design aesthetic. What I did not like and is the absolute worst thing about this knife is the EXTREMELY SOFT and weak detent when it’s closed. I’ve manipulated and felt others from the Sprint Series line up in stores and they all seem to be this way from the factory, I think I can deal with it at the price I paid ($119), as the knife functions and handles well. The blade has the smallest amount of play/ wobble when fully closed. I hope it doesn’t accidentally deploy when in pocket due to the soft detent. It has solid lockup (50% on mine) and no blade play when fully open with very smooth pivot bearings.Bought knife because of the Buck name. Flipper does not work well and liner is thin. Kershaw link also made in USA for half the price is better made.Super good knife put together good but the detent is a little weak but not to bad.Love the marbled carbon fiber. Looks awesome. Has pretty interesting jimping, and to top it all off a S30V steel that will hold an edge in between sharpening. I also like the deep pocket carrying clip.I have collected Buck knives for 40 years. This one is another great knife. The flipper is so easy and smooth, and the blade holds a razor edge. The marble carbon fiber is a real eye catcher, I haven't seen a nicer set of scales. If you like Buck knives or are a knife collector this one should be added to your collection.Great knife. Sharp right out of the package. Buck never disappoints! The knife is great. Retains an edge and the weight is very light. The scales are gorgeous.
